Taoist Summer Retreat

If you think of a retreat as a treat, and treat again, this must be the closest to heaven on earth with silent meditation and sauna, tai chi and jacuzzi, chi kung (qigong) and swimming pool, fantastic food and walks on the moor.

Internal space-clearing, like feng-shui for humans, gives internal clarity and external protection. Such pre-Taoist shamanic practices include intense self-healing experiences and an immediate increase in awareness and focus.

Many people on this summer retreat have found self-discovery through silence, and how to let go embedded conditioning, harmonising with Nature in a beautiful countryside setting, feeling the healing power of Earth, Trees and Stones.

Clearing negative emotions creates a sense of freedom from old patterns. Sometimes we can deal with the old stuff, sometimes not, and perhaps some boxes are best left unopened.....Fusion offers the Power to live our present Life in the present, and the resources to cope with the residual effects of past baggage.

Inducing pure states of true compassion and sexual arousal creates the Power of Fusion within us, fusing these two vital states of orgasmic vibration into unconditional love for the self and others.

Through Moving and Still Meditations, rich in Taoist symbolism, we open the Eight Psychic Channels, form the Pearl of Compassion, and learn to combine and integrate the energies of the Celestial Children, Guardian Animals and Planets of the Five Elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Metal and Wood, in a deep exploration of our Internal Universe.

By making the body permeable for the internal and external circulation of vital energy, we build a base to safely experiment with astral travel and internal journeying: Sealing the Aura and projecting the Energy-Body.

Deeper into the realms of meditational self-awareness, realising possibilities beyond sensory perception, we flow into Nourishing the Spirit to awaken our spiritual potential: conscious freedom in the after-death state through meditative exercises practised in “this” life. The meditations integrate all we have learned into a practice we can take away and use in whole or in part, whenever we feel the need.

As novices we began with exercises to develop into a healthy organism capable of living in the physical world yet free of the tensions of “normal” life. Learning to heal and love ourselves began with the meditations of the Microcosmic Orbit, Healing Sounds, Inner Smile and Iron Shirt, was enhanced with the practices of Healing Love.

Now awaken your Soul! Free from environmental, educational and karmic conditioning, learn to be creatively active in the world, not to merely react to circumstances. Learn the means to gain control over “this” life, be aware of the immortality of your stream of consciousness, your true nature as spirit, your Self beyond the cycle of life and death.

This Retreat in the Devon countryside offers the Fusion of Kan & Li in the Crucible of Water and Furnace of Fire, of Nourishing the Spirit by blending the energies of Dragon and Tiger symbolising Love and Sex, Yang and Yin, the sun in the ocean. This Inner Alchemy generates steam to cleanse the internal channels, with the physical experience and symbolic rebirth of Sweat Lodge, leading into an intense, potentially life-changing Meditation on Death, Conception and Birth of the Soul, and turning the Wheel of Law.

The experience is of the essence - Nourishment of the Spirit is a deeply mystical practice more easily understood than explained. Learn to prepare, conceive, birth, nourish and develop your Spirit-body, to move it around and bring it home, and the first steps of transferring the energy-body. The experience is intensified with shamanic theatre when the veil between the worlds is ripped apart.

The Retreat is guided with love and care, allowing space for discussion, regeneration, relaxation and multicultural celebration reflecting the diversity of the Tao, with QiGong and Tai Chi; Sweat-lodge, dancing and singing bhajans; swimming-pool, sauna, jacuzzi; walks on the moor, sunrises and sunsets; ritual and ceremony.

The experience of Nourishing Spirit culminates with Effective Practice Development, Step 4, a few weeks later: a step deeper into the secret Universe Beyond the visible, the mountain in space, the ancient healing forest, Fire under Water, and the beginning of the Journey through the Inner Eye.

This is the third of three articles on how ancient Taoist practice can benefit modern life.
