The next Step 1 of the Foundations of Taoist Practice runs on Saturday and Sunday November 22nd and 23rd, from 10am to 5pm at the London Tao Centre. Inner Smile, Healing Sounds, Microcosmic Orbit, the basic structures for Iron Shirt Chi Kung (qigong) and a look at some simple Tai Chi movements - whereas Chi Kung develops rooting and grounding, Tai Chi offers flexibility and adaptibility. The combination offers the means to cope with day-to-day life and more, to live life to the full. Step 1 is an ideal introduction for beginners and is a pre-requisite for Step 2 (December 13th & 14th). Learn more

Usha Visit
It has been such a pleasure hosting Ushaji's first visit to London and seeing the effectiveness of her healing and inspiration of her teaching. For sure she will be back. (A 'beneficial side-effect' of her London visit was a Crystal Sale that raised over £650 for HIV children in the Himalayas - where they have less access to support systems ranging from over-stretched to non-existent.)
We have been invited to Buddha Hall, Usha's Healing and Teaching Centre in Dharamsala to teach the Shiatsu Certificate in Practical Shiatsu course in the Spring of 2009 - Monday April 20th through Thursday 23rd. So, if you happen to be passing by North India...join us!

Festival of Taoist Arts One of the attractions of the Taoist practice to me was its inclusiveness. I could learn and practice healing, martial arts, shamanism, meditations ... and much more from cooking to calligraphy. Now a Festival of Taoist Arts is in gestation, conceived by Uta Demontis and sponsored by the London Tao Centre and Zen School of Shiatsu, to celebrate all the facets of this diamond among disciplines with demonstrations, seminars, talks and workshops on everything from acupuncture to zen through Qigong and Tai Chi. All the schools of Taoism from Celestial Masters to Action & Karma are welcome along with their teachers and pupils, from Grandmaster to Novice, with virtual appearances by Huang Ti and Lao Tsu. You can rent a stand to promote your own school, style, therapy or discipline, or give a demo, talk or workshop - and maybe even participate in the Tai Chi Chuan push-hands event.
